ABOUT RRP

Round Rock Players was created in 2008 by Amy York, SBEC Texas-certified Theatre teacher and mother of 2. A Theatre kid and overall-ham from the start, Amy began her playing career in elementary school and never looked back.   After several years teaching Theatre and Musical Theatre in Central Texas public schools, Amy decided to stay home with her infant and do the Stay-at-home-mom shuffle.  Six years and one more kiddo later, she was becoming dismayed at the lack of affordable, quality Theatre classes for young kids. Knowing how powerfully theatre and the "art of play" can enhance and impact kids of all ages, Amy decided to do something about it.

What began as a backyard summer camp two short years ago has blossomed into a full-blown "Academy of Play" for youth ages 4-14, offering multiple summer camps, various fall and spring classes, and performance opportunities throughout the community.

The beauty of theatre is that it is universal, and in some way touches everyone's lives.  It involves painters and scientists, writers and mathletes, divas and wallflowers. There is a place for everyone in theatre, and in theatre, everyone is welcome.

At Round Rock Players, we strive to ensure that all of our "players" feel safe and welcomed, and enforce a "No Judgement Zone" policy at all times!  This helps to create the type of environment where each child feels comfortable enough to branch out and begin their journey building the social, creative, speaking, and movement skills that will empower them to become successful in all of their future endeavors.
